ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on plant scent in a healing forest garden for patients with stress-related illnesses. The forest garden is part of a research project on the connections between nature, health and design at the University of Copenhagen. The chapter describes the use of plant scent in the design of the forest garden as well as in the therapists’ practice of nature-based therapy, and gives perspectives on how plant scent may support the treatment. In addition, considerations on how to further target the use of plant scent are given.
