ABSTRACT

Learning disabilities are one of the most common disorders impacting children and adolescents. Despite their prevalence, learning disabilities are typically not well understood, nor are the social, emotional, and behavioral problems that frequently accompany them. In this chapter we will provide an overview of the impact learning disabilities have on functioning among children and adolescents. A model of group treatment specifically designed for this population will be described, along with its application across a variety of settings. Adaptations to group treatment to accommodate learning disabilities will be highlighted.
