ABSTRACT
Playful teaching and outdoor learning offer children and teachers opportunities to engage with the subject of geography in a creative manner. This chapter provides examples to demonstrate that playful learning opportunities that immerse children in their surroundings can provide children with valuable geographical experiences throughout the primary years. It also illustrates how promoting children’s knowledge and understanding of their local landscapes encourages them to make connections to people and places on a global scale, while promoting their happiness and well-being.
