ABSTRACT

As is the case with all of the authors in this volume, the authors of this chapter draw from their academic preparation as well as their personal experience as members of accreditation teams with one a frequent chair of Board of Examiners teams, as well as involvement as participants with the accreditation process at their own institutions. Their experience is also international-including working with institutions in the Gulf States that are represented in this volume. This chapter draws largely from the accreditation process in the United States, primarily because it is the process used not only in the United States but also internationally. Exceptions exist to the US process, of course, and these are described in our chapters focusing on Saudi Arabia (Chapter 12), the United Kingdom (Chapter 11) and Chile (Chapter 10).
