ABSTRACT

Think about the last time you met someone who was really funny. Chances are you had fun during that encounter, and probably would say you liked that person – but what else did you think of her? What role did labeling her as humorous play in determining the other qualities that you think she has, as well as how you expect her to behave in the future? If you met her at work, will this quality of funniness also impact your work-relevant impressions? In other words, is there a “halo of humor” whereby the characteristic of being “funny” becomes associated with a network of work-related characteristics (Cerrentano & Finkelstein, 2009)?
