ABSTRACT

Democratic governance has been recognized as one of the prerequisite factors for socioeconomic transformation in Rwanda. The Government of Rwanda (GoR) believes that good governance is the primary driving factor in order to improve the well-being of its citizens. The Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) has been established to promote good governance principles, and uses different tools in assessing governance status in the country. The latter help inform policy-makers and other stakeholders in order to take action in improving good governance and service delivery in Rwanda. Generating evidence-based research to impact policy reform is serving as a self-evaluation mechanism for sustainable development of Rwanda. It is therefore recommended that in order to sustain socioeconomic transformation, the preservation of democratic governance principles and accountability across sectors and institutions is highly significant.
