ABSTRACT

In the process of economic development in a country or region, urbanization and economic growth usually advance side by side. The transfer of the labor force from the agricultural sector to nonagricultural industry and from rural to urban areas and townships is the result of economic development and upgrading of economic structure, and occurs as a natural historical process. In other words, urbanization is an inevitable outcome of the social and economic transformation, whereas a series of reforms serve as a key driving force for economic growth.
