ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with compensation for damage caused by hazardous and noxious substances in connection with their carriage by sea.
At the time of writing, compensation for damage of this kind depends on national laws. The position in the United States is discussed in the next chapter, but otherwise it is beyond the scope of this book to examine the different laws in this area of individual countries.
