ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the relationship between community development, direct participation and local governments is explored. Context and an overview are then provided about both direct public participation and community development, with discussion of the links between the two areas. In the last part of the study, the level of direct public participation in local governments in Turkey is analyzed.
