ABSTRACT
As the highest and most impressive features of the landscape, mountains have an extraordinary power to evoke a sense of the sacred. Their imposing peaks, the clouds that gather about their summits, the waters that issue from hidden springs, these and other characteristics combine to imbue them with an aura of mystery and sanctity. In that aura people experience a sense of a deeper reality that gives meaning and vitality to their lives.
