ABSTRACT

This book aims to contribute to the scholarly advancement of sport corruption as a field of study by providing an enhanced understanding of the complex and multidimensional nature of sport corruption. As such, it aims to serve as a seminal text for undergraduate and graduate students, and offer sport industry leaders a useful resource to review. In five sections the book first discusses the conceptualisation of sport corruption; second, how it transpires from micro-, meso-, and macro-level analyses; third, its impact on individuals, organisations, and economic impact; fourth an overview of reform strategies and their implications; and last, guidance in conducting research on sport corruption, challenges in the research process, and suggestions for developing a research agenda in sport corruption. My hope is that the book encourages theoretically sound research and increased publications in the area of corruption in sport. Given that corruption in sport has been a persistent problem within the sporting landscape, it is imperative that sport scholars, students, and industry leaders understand the complex nature of corruption in sport.
