ABSTRACT

As expressions of the human capacity for symbolic thought, scriptualizing can be defined as communication through various media: oral, written, and audiovisual. The term technology (Greek technē, “art, craft”; logos, “word, speech”) signifies human application of scientific expertise, a development of systematic techniques for practical objectives but also for change and influence of the environment. 1 Scriptural technology designates the construction and application of a variation of literacy strategies of different genres of scriptures or put more simply, writings. This is because literacy is social behavior connected to the ability of mastering script (i.e. the proficiency to read and write but also to understand and produce scriptural cultures and practices). 2 Scriptures and literacy are determined by technology since scripts or texts consist of a combination of codified signs in order to create and communicate meaning. These technologies vary and are associated with power and authority. 3
