Major theological traditions and developments in the twentieth century

In the previous chapter we examined some of the key voices in liberal theology in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. In this chapter we continue in the twentieth century by examining some of the major theological traditions and developments that occurred in that century. We first focus on developments in the three central streams of Christianity – Protestantism, Roman Catholicism, and Eastern Orthodoxy – while the final section examines a recent theological development that reaches across each of the streams.
