ABSTRACT

As can be seen in the last several chapters, theological reflection took a significant turn inward from about the seventeenth century onward toward human beings and human experiences. This subjective turn, as we can call it, entered into Christian theology and for all intents and purposes has never really left. Indeed, in some ways it seems to be a growing phenomenon. We see this reflected in a variety of ways, from liberation and black theology to feminism to specific cultural theological developments. We will look at several forms this turn has taken, beginning with liberation theology.
