ABSTRACT
Many of the most widely circulated Middle Eastern newspapers, magazines, and television channels are not located in the region at all but have their offices in Europe, mostly in London. This situation owes not to the growing Arabic-speaking immigrant communities in Europe but rather to the greater freedom from censorship and repression enjoyed by the media based there.
