ABSTRACT

The paper presented here was published in the Journal of Business Venturing (Miner 1990), intended to bring the task role motivation theory to the entrepreneurship scholarly community. Here for the first time the idea of a leadership role within entrepreneurship is broached. This presentation does not include an initial introduction to the conceptual development of role motivation theory, especially as applied to the hierarchic and task variants; however, this theorizing has been discussed previously, and may be assessed in the original article.
