ABSTRACT

A fourth basic mode of writing in the CCSS is narrative writing, writing that tells stories about events either real or imagined. Addressing this standard requires that students learn to use language carefully and creatively. Indeed, we believe that many skills from the craft of creative writing carry over to well-crafted informational and argumentative writing. The standards for grades 9 and 10 set forward these important skills:

3. Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective techniques, well-chosen details, and well-structured event sequences.
