ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of Fair Trade certification initiatives for forest products, focusing in particular on the pilot projects and applications integrating the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification with Fair Trade. The first paragraph (paragraph 11.1) provides a background on existing Fair Trade standards and introduces the main links and pilot initiatives between forest certification and Fair Trade schemes, namely the FSC-Fairtrade (one of the leading international standards for Fair Trade) dual certification pilot project (paragraph 11.2) and the FSC Small and Community Label Option (paragraph 11.3).
