ABSTRACT

In the last 20 years there have appeared more and more reports on the use of what might be generally termed `theatre' in healing, in helping personal development or overcoming speci®c problems. I mean here those theatrical techniques which, in contrast to psychodrama and playback theatre, are not based on personal experiences and stories of group members but rather on improvisation or ready-made scenarios. Drama therapy is a general label for all the various creative uses of drama, targeted at the accomplishment of these therapeutic goals (Blatner 1988; Fink 1985; Johnson, 1982).
