ABSTRACT

Adaptive and personalized learning environments have come a long way. In the early nineties, the evolution of web-based learning provided tremendous opportunities for educators and students but also created a number of challenges: How to support students while exploring content on the Internet during the learning process? How to customize learning content and activities to suit the demands of pedagogy in an environment which is not directly controlled by the teacher? How to customize the learning process for students with different characteristics as they access the learning environment from different parts of the world?
