ABSTRACT

This chapter returns to some of the analyses of Part One using examples drawn from the case-study chapters of Part Two. It thus highlights certain issues relating to the book’s central theme of transformation. In so doing it examines the nature and extent of change in the international system and relates this to the manner in which foreign policy has been shaped and altered. In addition, the chapter also touches upon some further analytical matters in the study of foreign policy – the importance of comparison and the continuing relevance of foreign policy analysis as an area of study.
