ABSTRACT

Introduction This chapter is designed to give you advice for your English Legal System (ELS) exam.

The topic of the English legal system will be one of the fi rst subjects you will study. If you studied ‘A’ level law, you may already be familiar with the subject. If this is the case, do not fall into the trap of ‘switching off’, assuming you have ‘done it all before’. ‘A’ levels and your fi rst undergraduate year will require different skills, and you will need to learn to be more refl ective and analytical, which is not generally required on ‘A’ level courses.
