ABSTRACT
In this chapter the building regulatory system in the United States will be considered. It is prescriptive, complex and unlike the systems in most other countries, even though countries with federal-type systems (including Australia, Austria and Canada) have similar challenges in terms of regulatory development, adoption, implementation and enforcement.
