ABSTRACT

Geoffrey Baker is Reader in Musicology and Ethnomusicology at Royal Holloway University of London. He specializes in music in Latin America, and he has published extensively on colonial Peru, including the award-winning book Imposing Harmony: Music and Society in Colonial Cuzco (Duke University Press, 2008). Geoffrey also works on contemporary urban music, and has published a book Buena Vista in the Club: Rap, Reggaeton, and Revolution in Havana (Duke University Press, 2011). He was co-investigator on the SOASbased AHRC-funded project “Growing into Music.”
