ABSTRACT

The HSE is continually looking for ways in which to tighten and improve health and safety methods by issuing Improvement Notices, Prohibition Notices and providing Action Plans for employers. In addition to this, the HSE carry out awareness campaigns working with businesses in assisting them to improve their health and safety regimes. It also acts as an advisory agency, working with specialist high-risk industries, for example the nuclear industry, as well as providing Government advice on applying EU law. Lastly, it undertakes research on a range of issues (the Health and Safety Executive, 2010).
