ABSTRACT

Increasingly, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners are examining the role that safe, walkable places play in encouraging active, healthy communities for older adults. Recent research points to the importance of accessible places with multiple transportation options as a key factor in promoting physical activity, overall health, and the ability to age in place for older citizens (Kerr, Rosenberg, & Frank, 2012; Wahl, Iwarsson, & Oswald, 2012).
