ABSTRACT

The lessons learned from the DELTA (Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancements and Leadership through Alliances) Program and the EMPOWER (Enhancing and Making Programs Work to End Rape) Program can act as a roadmap to guide the next steps of the movement to end the perpetration of sexual (SV) and interpersonal violence (IPV). The introduction of this book argues that the power of prevention systems is that they can eliminate persistent social problems through a sustained, comprehensive, and coordinated approach of a community’s network of individuals and institutions. Taken together, the lessons learned in the chapters of this book identify key areas to be addressed to further the work of strengthening prevention systems. Important components to building an effective prevention system highlighted throughout the book are discussed below.
