ABSTRACT

Many modern operating rooms have been designed to accommodate operative endoscopies; however, there are some variations depending on the individual requirements of the operating surgeon. We describe the general requirements of both the setup and the basic equipment that are necessary to perform safe and efficient gynecologic endoscopic surgery. However, there are expanding technologies that are more appropriate for advanced surgery. Some of the most advanced instruments are the robotic surgical equipment and newer forms of energy application. The use of this equipment is discussed in other chapters.
