ABSTRACT

Monica R. Miller offer a concluding meditation of sorts, with “KENosis: The Meaning of Kendrick Lamar,” giving attention to the ways that Kendrick Lamar is used in service of meaning making. All the while, Lamar fashions himself as a human in need of such processes, himself. Lamar is also a moral agent with a responsibility to family and ken-folk, broadly conceived, adding to the complexity of analyses of Lamar and of the very notion of “meaning” in general. Miller aids in situating the wide diversity of ideas found in Kendrick Lamar and the Making of Black Meaning, while also centering readers’ thoughts toward future avenues of investigation.
