ABSTRACT

In his most recent venture, as President of the United States, his first political, elected position, Donald J. Trump gives rise to intense feelings about him, both at home and abroad, through his use of presidential rhetoric. Trump, the 45th President of the United States, has used technology, the Internet, and social media to take control of his voice and message via Twitter, the online news and social networking platform. Trump continues to be vocal with his tweets, despite having a team of White House staffers. Questions surrounding which forum and which voice is the official message from the White House, private opinion versus public opinion, have surfaced along with concerns of the content of some of the Twitter messages themselves. The language and communication styles of US Presidents have been a source of scholarship since the first president of the United States. The chapter also presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in this book.
