Gender rights and trade agreements

WithSophia Price

This chapter explores the relationship between gender and trade and engages with competing analyses of the gendered impacts of trade liberalization. It outlines how these debates have framed the various approaches to the incorporation of gender into trade agreements, and argues that thus far the measures to address gender equality and rights within these have had a relatively light touch. It concludes with an outline of recommendations for a more substantive approach to addressing gender inequality through trade.
