ABSTRACT

In order to investigate the mechanism of dynamic response in train collision, a longitudinal-vertical plane dynamic model in train collision is developed by using the multi-body dynamics approach, which include the track subsystem, the wheel/rail subsystem, the coupler buffer/anti-climber subsystem and the vehicle subsystem. The system motion equations are solved by means of an explicit integration method in the time domain. The train collision dynamics coupling model is validated by finite element numerical analysis. The model would be used to research the effect of vehicle structure parameter, the dynamic behavior of train crash, and the new design of crashworthy structures.
