ABSTRACT

The work presents a technique to calculate intermediate transition forces of draft gear during loading to unloading operational changes. Such transition forces are useful in the regularization of real time numerical simulations of the dynamics of in-train forces. The proposed technique is based on an approximation of the energy dissipated in the loading to unloading condition in successive simulation steps. Results of usage of the force model is shown in the numerical simulation of the dynamics of a train composition formed by one locomotive and fifty wagons.
