ABSTRACT

The derailment coefficient is used to grasp the risk of the flange climb derailment. The derailment coefficient changes due to rail and vehicle conditions. The PQ monitoring bogie that can collect the derailment coefficient during commercial operation has been developed and a large-scale data is collected. However, there is no efficient method for handling such a data. This paper shows an analysis tool that can easily handle such a large-scale data and detect the place where the derailment coefficient increases. In addition to the development of the tool, a method to estimate the track irregularity of twist is proposed and evaluated with a multi-body dynamics simulation using SIMPACK. The analysis tool can provide sufficient information regarding friction characteristics and track irregularity to the data analyst.
