Fitting wheel profile using optimal biarc curves
In order to realize the engineering application of discrete designed tread profile, an effective method which can approximate discrete data by arcs is proposed. It is developed by two traditional arc-fitting method and able to adjust tolerance by differentiating several tread areas to decrease the fitting errors. The influence on vehicle dynamic performance is chosen as the main criteria to evaluate the fitting process. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method provides good approximations of wheel profile.
