ABSTRACT

This part introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters. The part shows the central tendencies which characterize the long term course of the technological, economic and social transformation of post-war Greece. It determines the basic factors on which this developmental process was based. The part analyzes the dialectic relationship that was established between the policies adopted and ensuing characteristics which developed during the stage of economic growth and during the stage of crisis. It contains a description of the main characteristics, performance and developments which define the Greek economy of the post-war period. The part discusses the flow of productive knowledge and technology into the production system and the manner in which these inflows developed and were employed. It analyzes the factors that determined and defined the process of transformation of the Greek economy. The part concludes the state policy which affected the process of development and the path of transformation.
