ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on feminist-inspired criminal law reforms. It investigates how intimate partner femicide cases have unfolded in the courts in England and Wales after a reform expressly excluding sexual infidelity as a trigger for loss of control. The book assesses the feminist-led criminal law reforms in the Australian state of Victoria. Focusing on intentional homicide, and particularly the provocation defence, it investigates how courts are narrating intimate partner femicides in the post-reform era. The book also investigates feminist litigation and feminist watches as a Smart-inspired way to engage with law in practice and raise awareness about intimate partner femicide and court practice in Turkey. It discusses the establishment of the Canadian Femicide Observatory for Justice and Accountability.
