ABSTRACT
L. J. Mordell was born in Philadelphia in 1888. He received his graduate training at Cambridge and then taught at the University of Manchester, Birkbeck College, and Cambridge. His research has been in the theory of numbers. He has traveled widely, with appointments at twelve universities outside of Great Britain and lectures at over 190 universities throughout the world.
