ABSTRACT
We have interpreted ligand-exchange chromatography broadly to include many techniques for separating organic compounds in which coordination with metal ions plays a part. The method is very versatile and distinguished by high selectivity, especially stereoselectivity. Experimental conditions are flexible and selectivity orders can be manipulated almost at will. Practical difficulties remain, but they are on their way to solution. The main difficulties are explained below.
