ABSTRACT

It is time to take stock of how the system of rice intensification (SRI), constructed in Madagascar some 30 years ago, has been evolving and spreading since the ideas and practices on which it is based were first validated outside that country. In the past 15 years, SRI ‘proof of concept’ has been validated in more than 50 countries. This chapter considers the dynamics and realities of the SRI phenomenon in its multiple dimensions over time.
