ABSTRACT
In the northern part of Kerala, India, the ritual performance called Teyyam is held at shrines or temples in local Hindu society, and some of them take place with hunting wild animals as traditional custom. This chapter illustrates the argument between preservation of tradition and environmental conservation in the era of globalization by this case study on Vayanattu Kulavan Teyyam and its hunting practice.
