ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: In medical image processing, the Optical Coherence Tomography  (OCT) imaging technique is widely used for disease detection. It is a non-invasive imaging technique that provides images of tissue structures with high resolution. Speckle noise is a granular noise. Speckle noise is introduced in OCT images due to the constructive and destructive interference of optical waves that undergo multiple scattering in different directions, when waves propagate through the tissue. The quality of OCT images degrades due to speckle noise. This paper is a review of different methods for speckle noise reduction in OCT images.
