ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: Sentence compression makes a sentence shorter whilst preserving its meaning and grammar; it is applicable in di erent elds such as text summarization. Among the various methods to shorten sentences, extractive sentence compression is still far from being solved. Reasonable machine-generated sentence compressions can often be obtained by considering subsets of words from the original sentence. This paper presents a survey of the di erent approaches to extractive sentence compression.
