ABSTRACT

Dynamic soil properties govern the behavior of soil subjected to dynamic loads. Dynamic soil parameters can be classified into low strain properties (dynamic Young’s modulus and shear modulus, Poisson’s ratio, soil damping etc.) and properties mobilized at larger strains. Estimation of dynamic soil parameters finds major applications in the estimation of response of machine foundations, dynamic bearing capacity of soil, and soil-structure interaction effects during propagation of stress waves generated during earthquakes.
