ABSTRACT

Explains that the subjects in the Practical Field involve “practice” as well as theory. It focuses on the task of communication. The students are taught the technical skills of the preparation and delivery of sermons (Homiletics), and of the educational ministry of the church (Christian Education). The author maintains that a well-rounded practical department also includes adequate instruction in the history and principles of missions, of evangelism, of worship, of church administration and government, and of pastoral care. An important integral part at Western Theological Seminary is also the practical experience known as Field Education.
