This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. This book describes patterns of behavior that sustain gender inequality. It presents strong arguments that economies would benefit financially by tapping the talents of those disenfranchised because of gender. What employers can do: Challenge gender beliefs that lead to biased expectations; Notice and reward the people who help women build skills; Provide career planning and opportunities for high potential women; What public schools can do: Early socialization that promotes gender equality; What women can do: Aspiring women entrepreneurs should seek formal education and professional training in entrepreneurship; Women entrepreneurs should seek mentors and social support; Make processes for promotions and other career-related decisions transparent; Evaluate processes for exclusion and remedy inequities; Use metrics to track gender equality progress.
