ABSTRACT

Edition of a Coptic funerary dipinto from the “Monastery of St. Simeon” (Dayr Anba Hadra), which is of considerable historical interest: it is dated to the first year of a Christian Nubian king, who was apparently recognized by the Egyptian monks as the actual ruler of southern Egypt, although Egypt was nominally ruled by the Islamic Ikhshidids.
