ABSTRACT

Given the widespread and growing use of nanomaterials in various fields, it is important to assess the safety of all exposed living organisms. Hence, based on existing knowledge, the effects of these substances on the body are discussed. Nanomaterials affect different internal systems as well as the entry routes, that is: skin, respiratory, and gastrointestinal systems. In vitro and in vivo studies show that despite the wide application of nanomaterials, they might exert adverse effects on various organ systems. However, long-term clinical assessments and more detailed in vivo research are needed to be able to judge the effects of these tiny materials on the human body.
