ABSTRACT
In this chapter, a brief history of nanotechnology is presented. Then widely-used definitions of nanoscience and nanotechnology are compared. Next, the reasons that make nanotechnology so attractive are discussed along with some of risks or expected implications. Both ethics and society's perceptions of nanotechnology are considered and finally a concise summary of the chapter is given.
