ABSTRACT
Nail plate is rectangular translucent plate made up of hard keratin. Nail plate is not only a reflection of nail health, it can also show signs of systemic diseases. Nail plate abnormalities can occur in diseases of nail unit, various dermatological diseases as well as systemic diseases. There can be various surface changes, alteration in curvature of nail plate, or color changes that depict various diseases. Identification of these nail signs is very important for dermatologist as it can be a clue to underlying dermatoses or it can help in diagnosis of systemic disease.
